AVL TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION

The audio video & lighting (AVL) tech is a key member in the Stark Raving Solutions (SRS) team throughout a project: design verification, system proofing, turn-on, configuration, system to component level troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and support. The tech uses the required tools, equipment and software to support the team and end users.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate as a key member of a functioning team.
  • Verifies system design and documentation meet the specifications, budget and functional requirements of a project.
  • Documents details of projects for communicating with vendors, clients and SRS teams and clearly communicates technical aspects of the systems to technical and nontechnical people. Provide training and support for end users.
  • Works closely with installation, design and sales teams for successful integration of systems designed.
  • Provide system testing, turn-on and configuration to verify installation and ready systems for commissioning.
  • Use strong problem solving, troubleshooting, electronic and electrical knowledge, math and critical thinking skills to quickly diagnose and repair system issues.
  • Lead site surveys and create accurate as-built and site documentation for sales and design.
  • Attends site visits, job walk throughs and participate in installations as required.
  • Manages multiple projects and tight deadlines that are often part of the job and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Support end users locally and remotely, including training, troubleshooting, service and repair.
  • Expect to be away from your desk 80% of the time as your office on site; around town, regionally and nationally; travel out of town varies by season, 15% of year average.
  • Pursue continuing industry education including manufactures certifications, industry certifications, classes and workshops at tradeshows and other AVL specific education.
  • Understand system design drawings and successfully apply to projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned as a contributor to overall team goals.
  • Report to VP of Engineering.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-year associates degree in electronics or related technical field.
  • Two+ years of experience in the technical AVL field with progressively responsible system troubleshooting and technician experience.
  • Experience in AVL, theatrical, network and control system design, implementation and support.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronics and electrical theory, safety and practice.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn key software platforms DTools (Systems Integrator), ConnectWise, VectorWorks, WireCAD, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Revit, Projection Calculator, LightWright, DIALux, EASE, etc.
  • ETC Authorized Service Provider certification a plus
  • Strong math and analytical skills with an eye for detail.
  • CTS certification or other industry certifications and memberships a plus.
